PAY WHAT YOU CAN CLASSES
Throughout the year Group Acorde offers “Pay what you can classes” to the Houston dance community. These are ballet and repertoire classes set to live music and opened to professional and amateur dancers. Dancers can pay whatever they can for the class and engage in a gathering afterwards where they can network while enjoying snacks and refreshments. This affordable, inclusive and unique offering has been made possible by partnerships with dance studios across town that support this program through discounted rental rates. Past partners include The Houston Metropolitan Dance Center, MATCH and Claire School of Dance.
master classes and community conversation
Group Acorde offers masterclasses incorporating live music, rhythm, and dance. Classes include ballet, improvisation and contemporary movement and company repertoire. These classes continue to evolve throughout the years as a way for the company to serve the community through its unique and collaborative process and creations. All self produced company events and performances include an extensive Q & A to the general public, as well as special presentations to schools or organizations. These special presentations are additional shows that house students from local schools at no charge as well as individuals or small group of individuals connected to organizations. Past schools and organizations include East Early College High School, MendCenter Foundation, Crockett Elementary Poe Elementary, Bruce Elementary, and Artists for Hope.
